Hi, A big Yoshoar Koach to the children for an outstanding job at Hillel Lodge. You really put SMILES on the Bubbies and the Zaidies faces. The children started to learn about Shavuot. The older children are going to begin to write their Hebrew names. If your child has a Hebrew name kindly send it to me, otherwise I can sound out their English name in Hebrew. I am going to be spending some time ensuring the children recognize each letter of the Aleph Bet as well as their sounds. The children will be learning in detail the following two commandments : “ Honor Thy Father and Thy Mother” and “Remember to Keep the Shabbat Holy”. The first commandment ties into Mother’s Day. The second commandment will include a general discussion about Shabbat, a special Shabbat craft and a Shabbat party with the Grade 2/3. On Shavuot it is a custom to eat dairy. Next Sunday we will be having an ice cream party to celebrate Shavuot. I will be AWAY on Sunday, May 13. Have an amazing week! Morah Miriam

The children tasted hummous and pita bread, date honey and had a carrot muffin cupcake. I sent home an Aleph Bet match game with the children. The children can finish coloring the letters at home. Hello Parents: The children worked very hard to complete their paper plate Noah’s Ark. They also learned the names of the animals they made in Hebrew. In Ivrit, Hebrew part of the morning, the children continued to learn how to count from 1-10 in Hebrew. We also played “Simon Says” in Hebrew. Each child has the opportunity to be Simon and to tell their classmates what to do in Hebrew with the help of the teacher. It provided the children the opportunity to use the Hebrew vocabulary they have learned. Yiddish started this week. Judy ( the Yiddish teacher) taught the children a few songs and some basic vocabulary. This Sunday we will be starting to learn about Chanukah and continue with our regular routine. Enjoy the rest of the week! Morah Miriam
